Introduction
This is Great Lakes Tinned Fish - a locally sourced, Michigan startup based right here in Grand Rapids. Today we’re bringing you behind the scenes on how the Launch Kit team worked with Great Lakes Tinned Fish founder, Marissa Fellows, to create on-brand content and a website that combines both fashion and function.

Marissa connected with the Launch Kit team first to get started on building the Great Lakes Tinned Fish website. She had her branding in place and her product coming soon. It was time to start building brand awareness using a basic “coming soon” website structure. We broke this down into three phases.
Phase 1
Thanks to Launch Kit’s website program being an ongoing partnership, we took the liberty of building Phase 1 of the website as a simple landing page that introduced viewers to what was on the horizon. We set up an inquiry form for users to get updates. This helped Marissa begin to build her email list of potential customers for when her product became available for sale.
Phase 2
As the Great Lakes Tinned Fish packaging was being finalized and manufacturing was getting sorted out, we worked on developing additional, more in-depth website pages. We had a photoshoot in our studio which allowed us to outfit the website with on-brand photography showcasing the packaging and product in action.
E-Commerce
We planned to include e-commerce functionality for Great Lakes Tinned Fish, so while things were in motion, we set up the backend infrastructure of their Shopify store and used the Headless API to connect it to their website. This setup gives users the best of both worlds—backend e-commerce functionality from Shopify and frontend website freedom with Webflow.
We launched GLTF's web store with their first SKU (Smoked whitefish in organic sunflower oil) and plan to grow the storefront alongside Marissa's business. Launch Kit's website program makes it easy to add product and make design updates as the business expands (which it most definitely will!)
Photo and Video Content
With Great Lakes Tinned Fish, we create photo and video content on a monthly basis. This content includes both lifestyle shots around town as well as product-focused images in the studio.
For our first production day, we had a blast in the studio creating a wide range of product-focused photos that can be seen across the website and social media.
